Your 1st Visit

Gynecology:
During your first gynecological visit to our office we will obtain a complete health history, evaluate need for various lab tests, and complete a physical exam tailored to your specific needs.  You will see one of our health care providers and discuss appropriate screening tests for your age group.  We will review any health problems and answer your questions.  Then, we usually perform a complete physical exam.  Follow up visits are scheduled based on your specific needs.

Obstetrics:
After you have a positive home pregnancy test, call our office to schedule your initial appointment. Your first OB appointment will be your interview appointment where you will meet with either a nurse or one of our Certified Nurse Midwives.  During that visit, you will be asked to complete a genetic screening questionnaire which will help us evaluate your unborn baby.  The nurse or midwife will go over all of our office policies and procedures, current pregnancy education, and they will get a thorough health history. We would like to see you for your first appointment between 7-9 weeks gestation to be sure that you are able to take advantage of the screening blood tests that are offered at “The Group”.  Once you have decided to see either the Physicians or the Certified Nurse Midwives, we will make a follow up appointment with the provider about two weeks following the interview appointment.  Then, we will schedule follow up visits at four week intervals and every 1-2 weeks during the last stages of pregnancy.

Office Hours:
Our office is open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily, Monday thru Friday.  We do close for traditional holidays.

After office hours, or on days when the office is closed, you can reach the physician on call by calling our office number, (563)355-1853.  At night, our answering service will refer all calls promptly to the doctor, and the doctor will return your call as quickly as possible.  There are times when that physician will be busy with other patients or on emergencies, so we do ask your understanding at those times. 

Our office hours are by appointment.  Experience has proven that this provides the most convenient and best service to you.  If you find that you cannot keep your appointment, please notify us at the earliest possible time so that we can readjust our schedule. 

If you have an emergency, call our office and we will rearrange the scheduled appointments so that a physician can see you as soon as possible.
